Head Skipper - Ed Broadbent


Ed is a Chartered Civil Engineer turned Professional Yachtsman.

Ed began Skippering for Chloë's swimmers two years ago. In 2022, he Skippered one of the non-stop circumnavigation Isle of Wight relays and in August 2024 he skippered one of the Half Channel Swims in Dover. 

His sailing began at school and his Yacht Charter was on the Norfolk Broads at the age of fifteen.

Since then he has owned and raced or cruised, boats, in various parts of the world, ranging from Enterprise and Merlin Rocket dinghies to a Beneteau First 44.7 , which he used as a Charter yacht, to his present Yacht a Sparkman and Stephens 34 classic.

In 2001, Ed decided to move back to the UK from South Africa where he began Sailing full time.

He is based in Hamble, one of the main Yachting and Boating centres on the South coast of UK. Ed carries out Yacht Deliveries of Yachts and Motor Cruisers on behalf of both private and corporate clients.

Until a few years ago he was the Chief Instructor of the Anchorage Sea School. He taught sailing, up to RYA Yachtmaster level, and gave tuition to new boat owners on handling and sailing their own boats.

All of this has given him the opportunity to experience sailing many types of boats from large Motor cruisers and Catamarans to Racing Yachts and Cruising Yachts.

Ed's sailing has taken him to most countries on the Mediterranean, to the Canaries, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, South Africa and the Indian Ocean.
